Reviving Mughal era with trendy aesthetics, Manohar Lal Jewellers makes a statement with Royal Affair range
Some trends never subside. They remain as the innermost desires of the gem lover in every woman. Every woman wants to look like a queen. The latest collection of Manohar Lal Jewellers, called ‘A Royal Affair collection’, promises customers the same regal experience through pieces reminding oneself of the Mughal era.
Aiding the comeback of heavyweight jewellery, the brand has introduced exquisite pieces in gold, polki, and diamond in the 250-500 grams range that look traditional but never dated, thanks to an overarching modern design language encapsulating the Mughal theme.
Speaking about the collection, Himanshu Shekhar, MD, Manohar Lal Jewellers, said, “Most Indians are proud of their rich and gloried history. Heavyweight necklaces were a part of Mughal begums. Thus, we aspired to create a jewellery collection that could recreate the splendour of royal Mughal India by redesigning timeless, handcrafted jewellery such as jhumars which are not very popular in today’s time. The royal collection also consists of other items such as hathphool, naths, etc.”
According to Himanshu, the brand is targeting upper-middle-class customers for the newly launched collection. High-end traditional jewellery remains to be a niche market and so, conversion happens only with people who have had a penchant for traditional jewellery since long.
That is why the brand is content with the footfall. “Whenever a jewellery collection like this launches in the market, it gets a lukewarm response from the customers. However, we also have to keep in mind that the collection has not been launched for the masses, but the classes. Although sales are limited, we are getting a huge appreciation from the customers. The footfall of the store has increased since we have launched it,” Himanshu added.
