As a tradition, Indian people have been investing in gold jewellery as it offers various benefits in times of hardship. “People have made it a habit of buying gold jewellery as they know it offers safety, steady returns and instant cash. Once in a year, people buy gold as it is considered the best option for investment as compared to land and shares,” said Ashok Vastani, Director of Dass Jewellers, in a tête-à-tête with The Hitavada. Dass Jewellers is located at Sapatak Plaza, North Ambazari Road, Shankar Nagar. He said, “It is not just the rich, but people that fall in the middle and lower middle class bracket who buy gold once in a year. Even the farmers buy gold after the harvest as they have known it offers a cushion when they are in need of urgent cash. Gold can also be pledged as a security to avail short term loan during times of emergencies and hospitalisation.”
Apart from this, he said, “Women love to buy gold ornaments and flaunt jewellery during special social occasions. Possessing gold is a matter of pride for every household. The habit of saving money and investing in gold has purpose and great economic significance. This habit should not be discouraged”. Dass Jewellers was established by Bhagwandas Vastani in 1947. In the beginning the shop was located at Sitabuldi. In 1996 the family shifted and set up an ultra-modern showroom with plush interiors in Sapatak Plaza, Shankar Nagar.
Dass Jewellers is known to be the pioneer to have set up shop on North Amabazari Road. Over the years, it has created a legacy of offering purity and fair dealings. From inception is has carved a niche for itself among the customers and has an impeccable reputation in the market, he pointed out.
