Monetary incentives
There were few jewellery items in my store lying idle for years. Three months ago, I started putting green tags on those items for identification and asked my staff to focus on selling old inventory. In order to boost their morale, I even announced extra 2 percent commission to each staff on the total value of old jewellery items sold by him/her. Through the initiative, I have successfully sold most of the old inventory in 3-4 months.

Raising consumer awareness
Realising the importance of consumer awareness, we have started with door-to-door campaigning to directly take the brand to the customers. During the campaigns, we inform customers about our products and promotional offers. We deputed our own staff, without consulting advertisement agencies. During special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, we visit our customers’ houses and celebrate with them, thus building a personal relationship with the customers.

Giving new look to the inventory
I have updated my existing inventory to add variety and give it a fresh look. Apart from lightweight South Indian gold jewellery, I have also introduced new collections of Kundan and Oxidised jewellery in antique vertical, as lightweight and antique are on demand. The steps have immensely benefitted me as my sales have gone up by 10-15 percent.

No compromise with the product quality
In this competitive industry, one must maintain standard and win the trust of his customers. In order to achieve this, I double-check all products coming to my store so that there is no room for impurity. Today’s customers seldom fall for lucrative discount offers. So, I decided to attend each customer walking in personally, explaining the qualities of my collections to them, which have led to increase in sales.
