Knowledge Session on “Lab-Grown Diamonds” by HRD Antwerp India and Arihannt Diamond Institute

“Can you trust your diamond”?

This is one of the most common questions asked by consumers and industry members. HRD Antwerp India in collaboration with Arihannt Diamond Institute organized a knowledge session on “Lab-Grown Diamonds” on 15th December 2019 at the Arihannt Diamond Institute’s Surat campus.

The main objective of this session was to create awareness and understand the changes in the purchase behaviour of consumers while providing information on the distinguishing features between natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds.

The participants varied from consumers to trade members as well as lab-grown diamond manufacturers. Participants gained information on the growth processes of HPHT and CVD lab-grown diamonds. Additional session highlights included treatments conducted on lab-grown diamonds. A small practical session was also conducted with HPHT and CVD samples.

A Memorandum of Understating (MOU) was signed between HRD Antwerp India and Arihannt Diamond Institute (ADI) for academic collaboration in India at the HRD Antwerp India office in Mumbai in the month of November. The MOU facilitates the exchange of students, faculties as well as diamond, gemstone and jewellery related courses between
the two institutes at Mumbai, Surat and pan India.
