Cannes Film Festival 2023: From diamonds and sapphires to precious crocodiles and snakes, eclectic jewellery seen on red carpet
This year’s red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival was graced by celebrities including Manushi Chhillar, Alessandra Ambrosio, Urvashi Rautela, among others
The 76th Cannes Film Festival saw celebrities from all over the world wearing remarkable pieces of jewellery as they stepped out on the red carpet at the festival, being held in France from May 16 to May 27.
We bring the spotlight on some of the jewellery worn by star attendees at the festival:
Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts wore a Fairmined-certified neckpiece from Chopard’s new Red Carpet collection featuring a remarkable central yellow diamond weighing more than 100 carats.
Urvashi Rautela
The actor and model wore a crocodile necklace by Cartier, which had two golden-green crocodiles intertwined. She also wore hoops of the same design.
Cindy Bruna
French model Cindy Bruna wore Pomellato jewellery at the opening of the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Deepika Padukone
The Cannes jury member entered the red carpet donning an 18-karat white gold and diamond high-jewellery necklace by Cartier.
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway paired her Armani Privé gown with a ‘Mediterranean Reverie’ necklace, from Bulgari’s new high jewellery collection, featuring a rare 107,15-carat cushion-cut Sri Lankan sapphire.
Sara Ali Khan
Actor Sara Ali Khan made her Cannes Film festival debut wearing simple stone bangles and opaque orange statement drop earrings.
Pom Klementieff
The actor wore her custom purple deep neck Atelier Versace with an open back paired with the contrasting symmetrical white stone necklace by Cartier.
Manushi Chhillar
Former Miss World and actor Manushi Chhillar’s first appearance on the French Riviera’s international red carpet was in a white flared Cinderella gown donning a Zambian emerald and diamond necklace from Renu Oberoi and a ring from Swarovski.
Alessandra Ambrosio
The Asymmetrical Skyline necklace was “an impressive selection of 128 rare, bezel-cut spinels that fade from warm scarlet to azure blue evoking the sunset silhouettes of the Millanese sky”- states Alessandra in her Instagram post.
Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell debuted Bulgari’s new ‘Serpenti Ocean Treasure’ necklace at Cannes designed as a tribute to the natural elements. It features a 61.30 carat drop-shaped sapphire from Sri Lanka, hanging from the mouth of a coiled snake.
Lashana Lynch
The No Time To Die star wore a pair of emerald and diamond floral-design earrings by Chopard, the official jewellery partner of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore accessorised her black gown some Bulgari jewels. The ‘Tribute to Paris’ necklace features a Colombian cabochon-cut emerald of 35,53 carats, surrounded by diamonds and emeralds set in platinum.
Viola Davis
Viola Davis wore an Alexander McQueen gown with a Boucheron ring, featuring a 35-carat yellow beryl paved with sapphires and diamonds. She also added a ‘Fleur de Paradis’ head jewel from Boucheron’s forthcoming high-jewellery collection, which includes amethysts, yellow and orange sapphires, and additional pink and violet stones with orange lacquer.
