Khandelwal Jewellers completes 15 years of staff family welfare, donates uniforms to children of employees
As the brand celebrated its anniversary with measures directed towards employee well-being, brand co-owner Nitin Khandelwal provided insights on the noble practices
Akola: Khandelwal Jewellers celebrated its 15th anniversary on August 15, 2024, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. The event highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to supporting its employees and their families.
The jeweller invited the family members of their staff and distributed cheques, school uniforms and other items of necessity to children and their family, boosting their morale and increasing staff’s dedication towards the brand.
“We have been conducting this welfare programme for the last 15 years. We used to allot a certain amount of funds for each employee and their family members. The amount used to be sent directly to their accounts for this purpose. This year, we went public and distributed the goodies directly amongst the children,” said Nitin Khandelwal, co-owner, Khandelwal Jewellers.
The jeweller has funded the education of its employees’ children, covering all costs from school tuition to books and uniforms. This initiative aims to remove financial barriers and ensure that children of staff members have access to education.
The brand has also established a broad incentive system that benefits all employees, including those in non-sales roles such as drivers and administrative staff. The incentive programme is linked to sales performance and includes rewards for high-margin products and scheme enrollments.
Khandelwal suggested that his brand operates on the principle that taking care of employees will, in turn, enhance their ability to serve customers effectively. This philosophy has driven the company’s approach to employee welfare, which exceeds basic requirements from the likes of provident fund and employee state insurance.
In addition to educational support and incentives, Khandelwal Jewellers organizes regular picnics, cultural events, and other activities to strengthen team bonds and improve staff satisfaction.
Khandelwal emphasised that the company’s focus is on building a strong support system for its employees, seeing them as crucial partners in the company’s success. The rationale behind these initiatives is rather uncomplicated. “One owner can’t take care of 1 lakh customers, but if they can take care of 100 employees, those employees can handle 1,000 customers each.” he concluded.
