The necklace has 92 carats of certified Colombian emeralds along with rose-cut and full-cut diamonds that combine to give it the shape of a lotus flower
New Delhi: Ever since the splash of coloured gemstones began during the pandemic, mass buyers diversified their tastes to buy this category of jewellery in a big way. This augurs well for family jewellery brands such as RK Jewellers, who take pride in their work on coloured gemstones. Rohan Sharma, Managing Director of RK Jewellers, shares his excitement about the lotus-shaped Colombian emerald necklace, the best coloured gemstone jewellery made by the brand in several years.
The necklace has a total of 92 carats of rare and certified Colombian emeralds. “We layered them with rose-cut and full-cut diamonds to give the jewellery piece the shape of a lotus flower,” Sharma says. The piece is designed such as to keep the emeralds at the centre to mimic the pistil of a lotus flower. Its petals are represented by rose-cut diamonds. The resplendent piece is priced around $100,000, and was especially significant, as its design aligned with the recent Diwali festivity.
It took a lot of patience and time for the jeweller to source just the right material to create this masterpiece. “It took us about 3-4 years to source all the emeralds because they had to be of the same shade, cut and purity. It took us 6-7 months to make it, as we were sourcing the diamonds to create the perfect layering,” Sharma explains.
RK Jewellers has its store at South Extension, New Delhi. Being at the heart of the city, the jeweller attracts a niche, elite clientele, who love wearing jewellery and thus, look out for collections that resonate thematically. They cherish sapphires and emeralds, which are no longer limited to heirloom ranges but are also finding a strong footing in pret fashion.
