Arundhati Jewellers has launched a saree collection at their recently launched, 12,000 sq ft showroom in Berhampur, Odisha. Comprising three floors, the store is designed to look like a 6-storied building from outside. The jeweller has an extensive collection of gold, diamond and silver jewellery, and has dedicated an entire floor to Pata, premium handloom Sambhalpuri silk sarees, from Western Odisha. The sarees are priced in the range of Rs 9,000-Rs 50,000.

Speaking about the development, Achutananda Meher, director, Arundhati Jewellers, said, “A woman finds two things that resonate with her heart — jewellery and sarees. It is for this very reason why we decided to introduce premium silk sarees in our store to attract more customers. Our locality does not have good shops that offer branded silk sarees, and this gives us a good opportunity to tap the local market. So, being a brand from Western Odisha, the quality and price we offer for sarees are unmatchable. Over the next couple of months, we will make ensure that we take all our customers to the new floor with sarees.”

The brand keeps three kinds of Pata sarees: bonkai, bandho and tissue. While bonkai starts from Rs 9,000, Bandho starts from Rs 15,000 and tissue starts from Rs 15,000. The brand has tied up with almost 100 local weavers to supply almost 1,000 sarees, pushing local handloom and creating a source of income for the weavers who have been badly hit by the pandemic.

Arundhati Jewellers have received a tremendous response from customers within the first 10 days of the store’s opening.

According to Meher, the sarees-with-jewellery concept is a pilot project under a sub-brand called ‘Arundhati Bandhakala’, and the brand is planning to come up with similar stores outside Odisha in the future, in states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal.
