WJI 2030 aims to unite stakeholders across the watch and jewellery value chain to drive measurable progress in three key areas—climate resilience, resource preservation and inclusivity

Hong Kong: Platinum Guild International (PGI) has announced its membership in the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030), reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing, according to a press release issued by the organization.

Headquartered in Geneva, WJI 2030 was founded in 2022 by luxury giants Kering and Cartier, with luxury goods company Richemont overseeing the initiative. The platform aims to unite stakeholders across the watch and jewellery value chain to drive measurable progress in three key areas—climate resilience, resource preservation, and inclusivity.

Tim Schlick, CEO of PGI, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, WJI 2030 unites all players across the watch and jewellery value chain and enables them to lead progress and future-proof their businesses in an ever-changing regulatory landscape.”

Schlick also highlighted the growing consumer demand for responsible sourcing and sustainability in luxury goods, including jewellery. “By embracing responsible sourcing practices and advanced technologies, brands will experience substantial value added to their brand story, reinforcing consumer trust and empowering informed decision-making, he added.

PGI recently partnered with US-based manufacturer Stuller and mining company Anglo American to introduce Responsibly Mined Platinum casting grain. The product complies with the Responsible Platinum/Palladium Guidance of the London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM).

Looking ahead, PGI is committed to working alongside industry partners to promote sustainability and align with global standards across climate action, human rights, gender equity and environmental responsibility. By joining WJI 2030—now comprising over 70 member companies from 18 countries—PGI aims to foster a more sustainable and responsible future for the jewellery industry.
