PGI’s League of Platinum Men series with KL Rahul engages on cricket and jewellery

Cricket is in the lifeblood of India. Several cricketers such as Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been known for their love for jewellery. Rahul has been the face of PGI’s Men of Platinum collection, and this time, he discussed about the real men of platinum on and off the field with TV presenter-cum-model Archana Vijaya in Season 1 of ‘League of Platinum Men’.

Breaking myths about teamwork beyond the dressing room, Rahul said, “When there are 11 people playing on the field, and 5-6 others are supporting off the field, what really matters is the experience and inclusiveness that the leaders of our team bring in. That is how we achieve the common goal of victory.”

Rahul, who captains Punjab Kings and has been announced as the vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team, also expressed how his stint with captaincy has been possible because of his experience under great leaders and former captains. “In the dressing room, I try to keep conversations with my team as simple as possible, because the captain needs to guide the team along. A captain needs to connect with his players on the most basic levels,” he remarked.

To start with, the first cricketer on Rahul’s list was Rahul Dravid. Admiring his contribution to Indian cricket and now NCA, Rahul recalled how Dravid taught him about conduct and behavior about and beyond cricket. The next person on his list was Ajinkya Rahane, whose captaincy was instrumental in leading to India’s victory in the Australia series after Kohli opted out to look after Anushka and their child.

When asked about personal style, Rahul said that platinum rings are a current favourite. “The platinum chain I wear stands out because of its appeal. On a night out, I’d definitely wear this,” he maintained.

Titled ‘Player or Team Player’, this was just the first of the interviews of Rahul under PGI’s umbrella campaign, garnering over 3.4 lakh views on YouTube. Other interviews of Rahul are ‘To Never Back Down’, ‘The Strength Within’, ‘Against All Odds’ and ‘A Game for the Brave’, each of which have amassed over 140K views within just two weeks of release. Success of such a campaign strengthens the popularity of men’s jewellery even among sports-loving, testosterone and adrenaline-driven men who’d like to prove their mettle on ground and choose to shine with jewellery with equal interest.
