Mangaluru: In a significant sustainability and community service effort, Abaran Foundation, the key philanthropic arm of Abaran Timeless Jewellery, has extended its support to ISKCON Mangaluru’s green initiative, Hasiru Sankalpa, as well as the Akshaya Patra mid-day meal programme.

The Abaran Foundation, with its long-standing association with ISKCON, has sponsored various initiatives of the temple, located in Mangaluru’s Kulai locality, including its construction and eco-friendly programmes. The launch ceremony of Hasiru Sankalpa was held recently at ISKCON Mangaluru, and marked the unveiling of the temple’s Govardhan Hills Centre for Culture and Education, an ambitious project aimed at promoting holistic education, skill development and spiritual well-being. The ‘Hasiru Sankalpa’, which literally translates to ‘Green Prayer’, focuses on environmental sustainability by incorporating eco-friendly practices in the temple’s operations. A significant aspect of this initiative is the installation of a zero-chemical biological effluent treatment plant, ensuring sustainable water usage and waste management.

Speaking about the foundation’s involvement, Pratap Kamath, Managing Director of Abaran Timeless Jewellery, said, “Our flagship showroom in Bengaluru is located opposite the ISKCON temple, and I have personally witnessed its journey from construction to becoming a major cultural and spiritual landmark. We are proud to continue this association with ISKCON Mangaluru by contributing to the temple’s construction and sustainability efforts.”

Meanwhile, the well-known Akshaya Patra mid-day meal programme for underprivileged schoolchildren, run by the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a non-profit trust of ISKCON, has also been expanded to Mangaluru with Abaran Foundation’s sponsorship. The Akshaya Patra kitchen in Mangaluru started operating six months ago and is already serving 30,000 meals daily to students across government and private schools. The Abaran Foundation’s contribution has been crucial in setting up the kitchen and ensuring its smooth functioning. “Serving 30,000 children within just six months of starting operations is a commendable achievement, and we are honoured to be part of this initiative,” said Kamath.

“We firmly believe in supporting causes that create a long-lasting impact, and providing meals to children is one of the most significant ways to contribute to society,” Kamath added.

With the temple’s construction expected to be completed in the next three years, Abaran Foundation aims to strengthen its partnership with ISKCON and add more to its community service and sustainability efforts.

Through dedicated efforts in conservation, contributions to art and culture, support for sports and fundraising for the underprivileged via the Abaran Foundation, Abaran Timeless Jewellery continues to solidify its reputation and enhance its brand image.
