The brand’s aim is to promote gold as a product in a unique way, while showing support for the Indian cricket team. It has created only one miniature so far, but is open to the idea of taking orders

Cricket is a much-loved sport across the country and with the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup drumming up this sentiment, Vadodara-based Damodardas Jewellers has come up with a miniature Cricket World Cup trophy replica, crafted in 22kt gold, not only to appeal to cricket-loving customers but also to promote gold as a product. Thus the ‘trophy’ has no embellishments, bringing focus on its radiant body made of gold.

Says Ravi Chokshi, Partner, Damodardas Jewellers, “Cricket World Cup is like a festival in India. We created this replica to motivate everyone, in keeping with the spirit of the game and the enthusiasm that the country feels at this time. We are satisfied with our creation, and have attempted to promote gold as a product in a unique way, while showing our support for the Indian cricket team.”

The brand has been promoting the unique product in the media as well as on digital platforms. It has also reached out to all its customers through WhatsApp, informing them about the gold Cricket World Cup trophy. Weighing 11 grams and measuring 1.5 inches in height, the gold ‘trophy’ is lightweight and makes for a good showpiece, especially for those who are avid fans of the sport.

The brand prepared well in advance for the launch of this product. The gold ‘trophy’ was conceptualized and crafted much before the Cricket World Cup started, and introduced right in time for the inauguration of the series on October 5, 2023. Customers intrigued by the product have been asked to visit the brand’s store in Vadodara and take a look at the miniature.

“We thought that the original Cricket World Cup trophy is not something that anyone apart from the cricketers will ever be able to see, hold or feel. Creating this mini trophy in gold is our way of enabling people to understand what it feels like to hold or own the trophy, even if it is by means of recreated art,” Chokshi observes.

The brand proceeded with the project without the sales aspect in view, points out Chokshi, saying that creating a golden miniature of the Cricket World Cup trophy was only a means to celebrate the spirit of the sport that all of India adores. Hence, only one such replica has been crafted so far. However, in the event that customers start placing orders, the brand is open to the idea of taking orders and generating sales.
