The marathon, to be held on Sunday, March 9, aims to celebrate women’s empowerment, and promote physical fitness among them

New Delhi: PP Jewellers by Pawan Gupta has announced its association with the Shakti Marathon for the second year in a row. Set to take place just after International Women’s Day, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, the event aims to celebrate women’s empowerment, and is expected to attract participants from across Delhi NCR and beyond. The marathon will not only be a celebration of athletic achievement but also encourage fitness and well-being among women.

To incentivize participation, PP Jewellers by Pawan Gupta is offering cash prizes totalling Rs 2 lakh and 300 gift hampers to the winners and lucky draw participants. Priyanka Agha, CEO of PP Jewellers by Pawan Gupta, explained the objective behind the brand’s involvement, saying, “We believe in the power of women, and our workforce is predominantly female. Supporting women, especially single mothers who manage both households and careers, is something we feel strongly about.” The company’s commitment to supporting women extends beyond business practices, as it frequently supports social causes such as education and women’s welfare, with particular focus on empowering the younger generation.

The partnership between PP Jewellers and the Shakti Marathon began in 2024 and has already seen a strong response, with participants from Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, Punjab and Haryana. According to the company’s Chairman Pawan Gupta, events like the Shakti Marathon are an essential step towards empowering women.

“Last year, 2,500 women participated in the event, despite 5,000 women being enrolled. Since the event was free, there was no cost for participants. Unfortunately, heavy rain began at 5 am that morning, causing some delays. However, the event received great feedback, and this year, the expectation is to have 6,000 participants—double the number of participants as last year. The event is being heavily promoted through radio, outdoor ads and print media,” shared Priyanka Agha.

The Shakti Marathon aligns with the brand’s purpose, with the term ‘Shakti’ highlighting the brand’s commitment to women’s empowerment. While the collaboration with the Shakti Marathon last year did not result in a tangible increase in footfalls or sales at the brand’s stores, it did provide valuable visibility to the brand and built its reputation as a supporter of women’s welfare.

This year’s Shakti Marathon too will be free of charge for all participants, allowing women from all walks of life to join the event without financial barriers. “We want to offer an opportunity for women to engage in a healthy lifestyle, something that many women often neglect due to daily responsibilities,” Agha explained.

PP Jewellers, a brand with over 50 years of history, currently operates three stores in the Delhi NCR region, with locations in Karol Bagh, Southex Part 1, and Gurugram’s GMD Mall. The company has plans for further expansion, with new stores expected to open by the end of 2025.
