Brooches, bold necklaces and personalized pendants from renowned jewellery houses grabbed attention on the Met Gala red carpet as actors, artistes and designers made a bold statement, bringing in cultural flair
New York: The 2025 Met Gala has officially come to a close. Indian actors, artistes and designers made a bold statement by embracing the ‘Black Dandyism’ theme through both fashion and finely curated jewellery. Departing from convention, they re-imagined their red carpet looks with cultural flair—pairing sculptural silhouettes with opulent accessories from home-grown jewellery houses. While the star-studded red carpet in New York city witnessed countless major jewellery moments, a select few attendees from the Indian subcontinent stood out among the stylish pack, as did Indian jewellery designers.
Shah Rukh Khan
The actor made a striking Met Gala debut in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee ensemble that echoed this year’s theme, ‘Black Dandyism’. His look was a subtle nod to the shared legacies of Black and Indian dandyism.
His jewellery, from the House of Sabyasachi, featured layered talismanic chains, a crystal-studded ‘K’ pendant, a diamond star brooch, and statement rings. He carried the Bengal Tiger Head Cane, crafted in 18k gold and set with tourmalines, sapphires, and antique diamonds—an elegant symbol of quiet power.
Diljit Dosanjh
Clad in a custom Prabal Gurung ensemble, the Punjabi icon fused royal grandeur with precision tailoring. A feathered, jewel-encrusted turban crowned his look, while he wore a striking diamond necklace created by Golecha’s Jewels — a stunning replica of the legendary Patiala necklace once worn by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, that had been made by Cartier. Subtle yet powerful, a Panthère de Cartier watch peeked from beneath his cuff as he made his striking entrance.
Isha Ambani Piramal
Ambani wore custom Anamika Khanna for the Met Gala red carpet. For jewellery, she opted for her mother’s heirloom jewellery – a custom stacked statement necklace from Cartier and rings from Tiffany & Co. The brooch in her hair was from Moi, a silver jewellery sub-brand of the Gujarat-based Aurus Jewels.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra brought dramatic elegance to the Met Gala in a custom Balmain creation that reimagined dandyism through a modern, feminine lens.Elevating the look was Bvlgari’s show-stopping Magnus Emerald Necklace, anchored by a 241.06-carat emerald—the largest ever set by the house. The piece made its debut from Bvlgari’s upcoming Polychroma collection, which is yet to launch.
Kiara Advani
Making her Met Gala debut, Advani turned heads in Gaurav Gupta couture, accentuated by sculptural gold accents and statement jewellery. She accessorised with bold earrings, multiple gold rings, and an edgy ear cuff from Outhouse Jewellery. Adding a touch of brilliance, she wore a 17-carat pear-shaped diamond and 5-carat heart-shaped diamond earrings by Kantilal Chhotalal—perfectly echoing the gilded detailing of her ensemble.
Coco Jones
At Met Gala 2025, singer-songwriter-actor Coco Jones captivated the red carpet in a statement necklace from Manish Malhotra High Jewellery, featuring a bold 20-carat tanzanite at its centre. The piece was artfully framed by three sculptural layers of vivid tanzanite and brilliant-cut diamonds, forming a striking mosaic that balanced elegance with intensity.
Manish Malhotra
Designer Malhotra made quite a statement during his Met Gala debut, by stepping away from the classic tuxedo in favour of a dramatic, bejewelled black ensemble. Elevating the look were layered accessories from his own Manish Malhotra High Jewellery collection—brooches clustered at the chest, rubellite-studded collar pins and pearl cufflinks—each detail reinforcing a refined yet subversive elegance.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee
Marking his second appearance at the Met Gala—this time alongside Shah Rukh Khan—Mukherjee drew inspiration from the Black Dandy and India’s aristocratic heritage. His look redefined opulence with a hand-quilted sherwani, a traditional kamarbandh, and exquisite pieces from the Sabyasachi Bengal Royale High Jewellery collection, adding a final layer of elegance.
Diya Mehta Jatia
The diamond heiress from the Ambani inner circle, Diya Mehta Jatia, sported a custom white ensemble by Bloni that gave dandyism a modern twist. She completed the look with striking polki diamond jewellery and silver-gold ear cuffs from Tribe by Amrapali, effortlessly blending avant-garde style with tradition.
