Kamlesh Nahar and Ritesh Nahar, Founders of Nahar Diamonds, Bengaluru, share how their commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and adoption of innovative technology have shaped their culturally rooted yet contemporary designs and strong customer-centric approach.
The Retail Jeweller (TRJ): What are your strengths, and what makes you stand out from your competition?
Our strength lies in our craftsmanship—creating diamond jewellery known for its enduring brilliance and attention to detail. Each design reflects a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation, making every piece distinctive. With precision-led manufacturing and a strong adherence to best practices, we ensure consistently high standards. What truly differentiates us is our ability to translate cultural and emotional significance into jewellery that resonates personally with our customers, helping us build lasting relationships and loyalty.
TRJ: How important do you think technological progress is for business?
Technology is central to our growth and creativity. Tools like 3D printing and AI-aided design enhance our ability to develop intricate pieces quickly and with greater precision. Blockchain technology helps us ensure supply chain transparency and ethical sourcing, which is increasingly important to today’s consumer. These advancements support efficiency, personalisation, and innovation—giving us a clear edge in a competitive market.
TRJ: Share your thoughts on emerging jewellery trends in India. Which design concept do you follow?
Being attuned to evolving style preferences has enabled us to connect with a younger demographic seeking a fusion of the classic and the contemporary, while continuing to serve our traditional customer base. In our South Indian diamond collections, we aim to reinterpret heritage through a modern lens—respecting cultural roots while integrating design elements that reflect current sensibilities.
TRJ: What improvements have you observed in the ever-changing retail market?
Retail has become more dynamic and experience-driven. E-commerce has broadened access, and digital tools have streamlined everything from design to customer service. Personalisation is now a norm, empowering buyers to create pieces that reflect their individuality. At the same time, transparency and ethical sourcing have become key decision factors. The integration of online and offline channels has created a seamless shopping experience, while digital marketing has expanded brand engagement across a more diverse audience.
TRJ: What design innovations are you working on for your upcoming collections?
We are currently focused on design innovations that marry classic elegance with everyday versatility. This includes lightweight traditional diamond pieces that retain their grandeur yet offer daily wearability, and convertible styles—like necklaces that can be adapted into chokers or long harams. We’re also reinterpreting traditional South Indian motifs with modern forms and finishes. At the heart of it all is personalisation of designs, allowing clients to co-create jewellery by selecting diamond settings, shapes, and finishes that reflect their style. Through these efforts, we aim to celebrate tradition while meeting the expectations of the modern jewellery enthusiast.
