Thrissur: In a display of humanitarian gesture, Kalyan Jewellers has pledged Rs. 5 crores to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) in response to the catastrophic flash floods and landslides that have ravaged Wayanad, Kerala.
TS Kalyanaraman, managing director of Kalyan Jewellers, announced the contribution aimed at bolstering rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the affected region. “As a company rooted in Kerala, witnessing the suffering caused by these sudden landslides and floods is heartbreaking. The devastation in Wayanad has claimed numerous lives, displaced families, destroyed homes, and disrupted livelihoods. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected during this challenging time,” Kalyanaraman stated.
Kalyan Jewellers has a longstanding tradition of community support, and this donation continues its commitment to aiding disaster relief and recovery initiatives in Kerala. The recent natural disaster has resulted in over 160 reported deaths, with many more injured and missing. Rescue operations are ongoing, with multiple agencies working tirelessly to assist those in need.
“Kerala is our home, and we are committed to standing with our people and contributing to the relief efforts. This is a small token of our solidarity and support for immediate assistance, and we are prepared to do more if the need arises,” added Kalyanaraman.
