Kalamandir Jewellers expands footprint outside Gujarat with a 30,000 sq. ft. store launch in Borivali
The three-floor store features lab-grown diamonds, polki, Italian, yellow and antique gold, catering to a wide array of customers from everyday shoppers to HNIs
Mumbai: Kalamandir Jewellers inaugurated its first expansive store outside Gujarat in Mumbai, Maharashtra, marking a significant step in its expansion strategy. The new store, located in the Borivali market, spans an impressive 30,000 sq. ft.
As part of Kalamandir’s vision to establish ‘big and busy’ stores across their major markets, this launch represents a major milestone. Chahat Shah, Director of Kalamandir Jewellers, expressed his enthusiasm saying, “We are delighted with the footfall on the launch day of our new Mumbai showroom. With over 600 walk-ins today, we are confident that we will establish a strong presence in Maharashtra, just like our success in Gujarat.”
The store’s location in Borivali, which is one of the key jewellery hubs in Mumbai, ensures a significant local presence amidst numerous competitors. The three-floor store has 10,000 sq. ft. per floor, combining old staff (30%) with new hires (70%) to provide a blend of experience and fresh energy.
The ground floor features the newly launched sub-brand, Rishta Diamonds – a lab-grown diamond brand. Additionally, it showcases ‘Dazzle,’ a section for Polki jewellery. It also has a separate section for Italian jewellery with 18k gold jewellery collection. There is a dedicated kids’ section for gifting, a unique platinum jewellery section, and an educational display comparing natural and lab-grown diamonds. Customer convenience is prioritized with ample seating available at the counters and waiting areas
The first floor is devoted to yellow and antique gold jewellery, offering a variety of designs including temple jewellery, bridal sets and lightweight pieces. A central men’s section features jewellery in platinum, yellow gold, and 18k gold
The second floor houses an exclusive lounge for HNIs, catering to Mumbai’s elite. Shah notes, “Mumbai boasts a significant number of high-end clients, including celebrities and billionaires, whom we aim to attract. The exquisite lounge on our top floor offers a unique ambience compared to our other stores and showcases a premium range of bridal jewellery.” The second floor also offers personalised spaces for customers seeking a bespoke shopping experience, particularly brides-to-be who can select jewellery in a private, family-friendly setting. Each section has its own billing counters to ensure efficient service.
“We plan to open more stores in Mumbai, each as expansive as this one. Rather than numerous smaller stores, our strategy focuses on creating large, comprehensive stores that showcase every category we serve,” said Chahat Shah.
