The jeweller’s inaugural cultural parade, spanning 25 kilometres across key city landmarks, aims to become Bengaluru’s signature annual event celebrating community spirit

Bengaluru: Drawing inspiration from urban celebrations in Dubai, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, C. Krishniah Chetty (CKC) Jewellers introduced the ‘1869 Bengalooru Parade’ to Bengaluru in December 2024. This vibrant initiative, spearheaded by directors C. Vinod Hayagriv and Chaitanya V. Cotha, aims to cultivate civic pride and unity while enriching the city’s cultural tapestry through a non-religious, community-driven celebration.

“We are glad to bring something citizens can look forward to each year. We hope to make the Bengalooru Parade as popular as the Mysuru Dasara and a source of pride for our city,” said C. Vinod Hayagriv, Managing Director & Director, C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers.

The inaugural parade, held in the last week of December, covered approximately 25 kilometres, starting from Main Guard Cross Road in the morning and concluding at Jayanagar 5th Block by early evening. The route encompassed prominent landmarks including MG Road, Indiranagar, Ulsoor Lake, Mekhri Circle, and Lalbagh West Gate, ensuring widespread public participation.

Emphasising the event’s non-commercial nature, Hayagriv commented, “While our name was visible, the primary intent was not to market the brand in any way. We aspire to create an iconic event that will attract national and international attention.”

The parade’s centrepiece was a decorative carnival float featuring live performances by celebrity singers and artists, accompanied by dancers, creating a festive atmosphere for public participation. The spectacle was live-streamed and covered by television stations, extending its reach across the city.

The event’s smooth execution was facilitated through collaboration with the Bengaluru City Police and Traffic Warden Organisation, who managed traffic flow and public safety. Motorcycle escorts and traffic wardens accompanied the parade to minimise disruption to daily city life.

Looking ahead, CKC Jewellers plans to expand the parade’s scope by incorporating additional floats, showcasing local talent, and encouraging broader community participation. Through this initiative, the brand has positioned itself as a catalyst for cultural enrichment while establishing what it hopes will become a hallmark event in Bengaluru’s cultural calendar.
