About 35-40 employees and top performers were rewarded with cash prizes and accolades in the presence of members of the organisation, boosting their morale and appreciating efforts

Gorakhpur: When jewellery brands are open for business all through the year, finding time for other corporate programmes can become a task. Therefore, when Aisshpra Gems & Jewels’ brand store in the city decided to serve customers all the days of the year, their plan to launch its human resources (HR) manual was postponed until recently when the entire company gathered at The Marriot, Gorakhpur for the much-anticipated function.

While the main aim of this function was to launch the redrafted version of the HR manual, the brand also included an element of surprise in the form of a rewards and recognition programme. In the brand’s view, the awards function and the new policies were planned to motivate the brand’s employees and help them serve customers better as a team and community.

“The R&R programme was due for a long time; now that the brand has been busier, we decided to do this on a grand scale so that everyone could be a part of this gathering. Hence, we also selected a fitting venue,” said Saumitra Saraf, Director, Aisshpra Gems & Jewels. According to the brand, the new policies in the manual are designed to benefit and secure the interests of their employees.

The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony led by the founder Balkrishna Saraf and the unveiling of the HR manual by Robin Mukherjee from the Human Resources department. About 35-40 employees and top performers were rewarded with cash prizes and accolades in the presence of the entire organisation.

The top-performing employees were chosen from different verticals and departments. As a jewellery retail brand, they started with retail sales – best salesperson and best front-end point of sale (FPS). Speaking about the impact of HR policies, Saraf commented, “Today, the jewellery industry is competing with other industries and not with other jewellers. The idea of the HR manual was to align the jewellery industry like any other organised industry in retail. The idea is to get equal opportunities, benefits, and ensure a fruitful future for employees in this industry.”

For the corporate R&R, the best performer from each department – HR, marketing, IT, accounts and others – was selected and awarded. “We also awarded those who were promoted in the current financial year. Everyone felt very motivated with this activity,” said Saraf.

Even though Aisshpra Gems & Jewels has been carrying out R&R programmes at the store level on a quarterly basis, the scale of this event and its grandeur was appreciated by the employees. The brand noted that employee awards functions are something that it has been carrying on for a long time, except the last two years. However, a grand-scale event such as this one was a first for them. “Everyone was invited for the launch of the manual, but no one was informed about the awards function or the top performers, until the event started,” he concluded.
