- Polki in Italian designs on high demand
- Lightweight polki pieces on the buying list
- Polki sleek bangles appeal buyers
Polki occupies the top tier of high Indian traditional jewellery. We usually associate polki with heirloom pieces and extravagant bridal sets that command luxury. Interestingly, polkis are making inroads in the everyday category and there are few manufacturers who are working wonders with their inventory in this segment.

The Retail Jeweller spoke with Rahul Soni, Mohanlal Narayandas Jewellers(Booth no: 2H045 I), Bikaner, in this regard. Talking about the segment, Soni talked about their Italian polki collection. “We are redesigning polka in the format of Western wear in jewellery. This is bringing a drastic change in the way polki jewellery has been perceived by Indian since time immemorial,” said Soni.
Using imported Italian chains in rose gold, the manufacturer is using polki pieces to make dainty necklaces, earrings and pendants. “The category has been performing superbly, because it is a new concept. Retailers are placing orders very fast,” said Soni.
According to Abhishek Gilara of Rambhajo’s (Booth nos: 2H064 I, 2H064 II, 2H066 I, 2H066 II) the infusion of polki with colour stones is working very well in the everyday wear. “Kundan Meena, polkijewelleryare very much in trend now. People are using many types of color stones as to beautify everydayjewellery,” said Gilara.

Polkijewellery,at large,is being bought for bridal purposes only, but at IIJS 2021, we have introduced everyday wear polkijewelleryin sleek bangles and other types. They are very light in weight and are appealing retailers. The category is moving very fast,” Gilara maintained.
