Pret is on a roll at JAS 2021. Here are the design discoveries
Jewellery has a new meaning to the youth, who live life to the fullest everyday and expect a similar association with jewellery as everyday wear. This makes sense for the supply chain as manufacturers will have to pack a punch with design excellence in every Pret jewellery range. Thankfully, JAS 2021 has proved to be the best place for retailers to source what sells best for everyday wear.

Several manufacturers have done a marvellous job in the Pret line. Aqua Gold’s Vicky Mehta showcases their Italian 18K gold jewellery range. “We are seeing good demand from buyers who are focusing on the mid-range inventory, which the end-consumer can wear everyday and utilise sufficiently,” said Mehta.

Abhishek Raniwala of Raniwala Jewellers said that polki has been dominating Indian jewellery trend since the past seven years, which the brand has captivated to come up witha signature Pret line. “We have a minimalistic, pocket-friendly polki Pret line, which doesn’t limit the consumer to wearing jewellery occasionally. We have been receiving overwhelming response on this,” he said.

For Maulik Doshi of Bharti Jewellers, Mumbai the interplay of colours through precious gemstones is getting recognition. “Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and their combination have worked very well for us,” said he, adding that the impressive diversity in lightweight pret jewellery has helped many buyers, because that segment is the need of the hour.

Gehna Jewellers’ Sunil Datwani is of the opinion that Covid-related regulations stopping a good B2B show have resulted in encouraging design innovation particularly in the Pret category. “We have seen an exquisite Italian chain embellished with polki and colour gemstones, which has also impressed a lot of other buyers. It keeps the cost reasonable with a lot of colour splash and style in the range,” said Datwani, adding that such innovation in Pret line are here to impact consumer behaviour significantly in the buying season ahead.
