The Institute will teach 2-D and 3-D jewellery design, and offer hands-on training in the latest CAD-CAM technologies to keep students abreast of jewel tech trends and equip them with the right knowledge to thrive in the industry
New Delhi: The jewellery design and retail landscape are constantly evolving – and innovation and upskilling is the need of the hour. With this in mind, the Increate Jewelry Institute was established in New Delhi on November 20, 2023. The institute is designed to encourage creativity, imagination, teach skills on the craft of jewellery design and nurture the next generation of visionary artists. Shakti Piplani, former Design Head Manager, P.C. Jewellers and CEO of the Institute; and Shefali Agarwal, Co-Founder and COO, Increate Jewelry Institute attended the launch event. The Institute was inaugurated by the chief guest, Arun Aggarwal, Proprietor, Shakuntalam Gems.
The Increate Jewelry Institute will offer a range of short-term and long-term courses and diplomas of 26 and 50 weeks to cater to the needs of all types of learners. Industry experts will guide students on crafting jewellery pieces in both 2D and 3D dimensions. The Institute will also offer hands-on training in the latest CAD-CAM technologies to keep students abreast of up-and-coming jewel tech trends and equip them with the right knowledge to thrive in the industry. Increate Jewelry Institute will accommodate an expansive learning curve, encouraging both novices and enthusiasts who have little to background in jewellery design, to professionals looking to sharpen and upgrade their skills, to apply.
At the launch, Piplani shared how the institute’s vision is to educate students on the emotive and affective aspects of the jewellery trade and expand awareness on gemstones and design style. “Jewellery design is a form of self-expression. It’s about capturing moments, emotions and stories in exquisite pieces of wearable art. It’s about understanding the significance of each gemstone, the history behind each style, and the skills to bring these elements together into something truly unique,” the Founder-CEO said.
“In our courses, one will not only gain a strong foundation in the fundamentals of jewellery design but also can push boundaries, and experiment with new materials and technologies thus discovering individual style,” Piplani added.
Shefali Agarwal, Co-Founder and COO, Increate Jewelry Institute said, “We envision our students as the torchbearers of innovation in the jewellery industry, carrying forward the rich traditions of designing while embracing the ever-evolving demands of the modern world.”
Agarwal explained how jewellery stands at the confluence of craftsmanship, luxury and personal narratives. Designers thus need to have a firm, yet dynamic grasp on both artistic and technical skills. “At IJI, we encourage an out-of-the-box thinking attitude, embracing new and changing trends, and challenging convention,” she said.
