Malabar Group’s ‘Hunger Free World’ project bags CSR Times Award 2024

The brand has launched unique philanthropic initiatives such as ‘Grandma Home’ which offers free accommodations to underprivileged women in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with plans to expand to other cities  

Panaji — Malabar Group has received the CSR Times Award 2024 for its ‘Hunger Free World’ project. The award, presented in partnership with the Government of Goa, recognises significant contributions to social responsibility. 

The award ceremony, held in Panaji, was attended by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and several prominent figures, including Rt. Air Marshal V.P.S. Rana, Delhi CSR Times Editor Harish Chandra, Goa CSR Authority Joint CEO Vijay Saxena, and Principal Adviser Dr. M.B. Gururaj. 

Malabar Group’s ‘Hunger Free World’ project addresses hunger by distributing nutritious meals. It delivers 41,000 food packets daily across 69 cities in 16 Indian states and provides 10,000 food packets a day to students in Zambia. The initiative, carried out in partnership with the ‘Thanal’ – Daya Rehabilitation Trust, aims to distribute 3.6 million food packets to Zambian students. 

M.P. Ahammed, Chairman of Malabar Group, remarked on the award, “This recognition highlights our commitment to addressing hunger and poverty. We believe our success is measured not just by business growth but by our efforts to support communities in need.”

Malabar Group has also launched the ‘Grandma Home’ initiative, offering free accommodations to underprivileged women. ‘Grandma Homes’ are operational in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with plans to expand to other cities including Kerala, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai. 

Additionally, the group’s CSR activities include medical aid, housing support, educational scholarships for girls, and financial assistance for young women’s marriages. To date, Malabar Group has invested over Rs 260 crore in these efforts.
