Indian representation solidifies in Antwerp World Diamond Center leadership

The election results underscore the growing prominence of Indian stakeholders in the global diamond trade and indicate a shift towards diversified and forward-thinking leadership within AWD
Antwerp — Indian representation in the leadership of the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC) has significantly increased following a recent election. The voting, which took place over two days, included a diverse representation of firms categorised by sales data.
In a competitive election, board slots were divided into three groups based on sales volume. Ravi Bhansali, Managing Director of Rosy Blue NV, and Isi Mörsel from Dali Diamonds Company emerged as winners in the category for firms with sales exceeding 100 million Euros. Chirag Shah of Yashvi Diamonds and Samit Mehta of Snehdiam secured positions in the category for firms with revenues under 30 million Euros. In the 30 to 100 million Euro category, seats were won by Prakash Patel of Veediam and Hitesh Kakadiya of Sheetal Europe.
Rosy Blue NV expressed delight over their director’s appointment, posting on Instagram, “We are honored to announce that Ravi Bhansali has been elected as an AWDC Board Member for the next four years. In this post, he will have a significant impact on shaping AWDC policy, thereby contributing to the service and protection of the Antwerp diamond community.”
Ravi Bhansali remarked that the election results reflect a strong desire for change within the diamond community, as the new board is largely composed of members from the next generation. “We are assuming responsibility at a critical juncture for the global diamond industry, which is currently facing significant challenges,” Bhansali stated.
The election results underscore the growing prominence of Indian stakeholders in the global diamond trade and indicate a shift towards diversified and forward-thinking leadership within AWDC. As these newly elected members prepare to guide the future of the Antwerp diamond industry, there is considerable excitement about the innovative strategies and collaborative efforts they are expected to introduce.
