‘We are looking for fusion jewellery that can be worn on both western and Indian clothing’

Aviral Prakash, director, expansion, Abhushan Diamonds and Gold Pvt Ltd, talks to Samit Bhatta, publisher of The Retail Jeweller India magazine about his expectations from the IIJS
What are your expectations from the IIJS and what products are you looking at?
IIJS is happening on a full scale after a long time, so I am very excited. We are all waiting to see the changes in trends since we last visited. We are broadening our horizons and product categories, so we are looking for fusion jewellery that can be worn on both western and Indian clothing. We are also looking at studded jewellery. Millennials are looking for low-cost jewellery today which looks heavy and elegant on them. Our goal is, instead of focusing on a customer who buys in lakhs, maybe once a year, look at millennials who buy pieces worth Rs 15,000 ten times a year. That has been the change.
You are coming up with a new 3000 sq ft showroom and introducing silver to your inventory. Can you please share some insights into that?
This time, apart from gold and diamond jewellery, we are focusing on silver very heavily. We are going to keep silver artefacts in our store. We really want to see that at the IIJS in Bengaluru.
