Prabhat Shekhar, Manoharlal Jewellers, New Delhi, talks to Samit Bhatta, publisher of The Retail Jeweller India about his expectations from IIJS Signature 2022.

What are your expectations at the IIJS Signature Show 2022?

IIJS has been a must-go for the past 10 years. I have been to many shows in the world and can say this is one of the biggest shows. I would like to see more international exposure at IIJS. We should have a team that visits international hubs. India is one of the biggest producers and suppliers and should make use of the situation. Jewellery business has been very good last year and we hope that this year is good as well. People trust gold and have been buying it.

Prabhat Shekhar

Which category of Jewellery are you specially interested in at the show and your message to the Manufacturers / Wholesalers who are exhibiting?

The youth in Delhi have started investing in gold. I want IIJS Signature exhibitors to focus on designs for the youth and the middle aged. This is the category of people who have the most disposable income, so they are buying jewellery.

What are your expectations at the IIJS Signature Show 2022?

IIJS Signature has surprised us with every passing year. We expect to have our previous expectation beaten. Today’s consumer is aware, fashionable and trendy, and wants variety, diversity and extravagance. They are not easily satisfied. We will want to see unique pieces. I want to see designs that wow me. The new venue will be better in so many ways.
