‘Forevermark Forums always think out of the box’

Nakshatra Mehta, managing director of Mehta Emporium talks to Samit Bhatta, publisher, The Retail Jeweller about his enriching journey with Forevermark, and how he thinks the Forums are getting better every year.
Samit Bhatta: When did you become a part of the Forevermark programme, and how has it helped you?
Nakshatra Mehta: Our bond with Forevermark is very old. We were the first ones to join the programme in 2008. We have learnt a lot and there have been experiences and incidents, which took our confidence to a whole new level. The confidence, trust and demand for Forevermark have grown over time. Since lab-grown diamonds are springing up like mushrooms, customers feel the need to feel safe while making a purchase. The name ‘Forevermark’ is in itself, a certificate of authenticity for them. In Forevermark has mentored us, made us think outside the box and arranged education programmes for us. Here is an incident: Back in 2014-15, there was this client, a homemaker, who did not understand much about diamonds. She came to our store to buy diamond bangles. When we placed 25 pairs before her on a tray, she could make out the difference between the Forevermark piece and the others. She asked us why the Forevermark piece shone better. That was the turning point for us. If a layman could tell the difference, this had to be the future of diamonds.
SB: What are your expectations from the upcoming virtual Forevermark Forum this month?
NM: The Forevermark Forums are raising the bar each year with a lot of education on diamonds. and I am sure there will be some out-of-the-box thinking this year too.
