Trade body to promote North East jewellers’ crafts through B2B Assam Jewelry Expo

Mumbai-based company KNC Services has associated with the Nikhil Assam Swarna Shilpi Samiti to organise the expo, which acts as a platform for jewellery retailers of Assam
Guwahati: The Nikhil Assam Swarna Shilpi Samiti will organise a two-day B2B (business to business) jewellery expo, Assam Jewelry Expo, from March 22 in Guwahati, with an attempt to promote the craft of retail jewellers of the region, where around 40 wholesale manufacturers from different parts of the country will take part.
The Samiti will organise the expo in association with a Mumbai-based company named KNC Services.
General secretary of the Samiti, Prashanta Kumar Roy, said the expo will act as a platform for the retail jewellery owners and jewellers of Assam and the northeast at large, who have unique design ideas. “In the expo, the jewellers will get opportunities to showcase their products to a larger audience,” Roy said.
In Assam, there are around 40,000 retail jewellery shops and around 60,000 jewellers, Roy said. “We expect all of them to join the expo. Apart from sharing ideas and purchasing designs, there will be demonstrations of sophisticated types of machinery, using which they can escalate their production while reducing the cost. A stall, specially dedicated to Assamese jewellery, will also be there,” he added.
Kranti Nagvekar, head of KNC services, said, “Although jewellery expos are being organised in other parts of the country, the northeast has never witnessed such an expo in the past. Through the expo, we are trying to bridge the gap between the wholesalers and retailers with an aim to give worldwide recognition to the jewellery of the northeast.”
