Prakshi Fine Jewellery pays tribute to Johannes Vermeer, visualizes working women in diamond jewellery

It’s always intriguing to redefine tradition and fine jewellery has a lot of takers for similar rediscoveries. Prakshi Fine Jewellery has taken a signifit stride in this case with their latest collection of earcuffs branded ‘Girl with a Diamond Earcuff’.
If that rings a bell, you are right. The collection is heavily inspired from Golden age artist Johannes Vermeer’s exceptional artwork named Girl with a Pear Earring. The diamond studded earcuffs as part of the collection are a trendy reprise of Indian traditional ‘kanphool’ earpieces.
Talking about the journey that led Prakshi Sharma, owner, Prakshi Fine Jewellery, to create this collection, she says, “Thanks to my professor and mentor, I went back to researching about traditional Indian jewellery and stumbled upon the kanphool. There was a strong scope for modernising it and I did my first design sketch in 2013. In 2014, I made the first kanphool and that’s how the brand came into being.”

Minimising the size and look of the heavy Indian jewellery piece, the earcuff is packed with diamonds, pink and green sapphires and rubies as well. Paying tribute to the great renaissance artist, Sharma’s latest collection visualizes how Vermeer’s ideal working women would look like with diamond jewellery. These earcuffs are customised as per the shape of the wearer and can be tweaked into earrings that face against the gravity.

The brand prides on its organic social media growth and have used short video teasers of the original artwork across all social media platforms to excite followers gradually. The promotion has resulted in a lot of price enquiries and organic reshares. Several fashion influencers have also approached the brand to style the collection in their ways and the brand is confident of running the campaign for at least a month.
