Agkem Impex demonstrated he workflow of gold testing and the laser soldering machines at IIJS Premiere 2024
Mumbai: Service providers form the backbone of the tech-led gem and jewellery industry of India today. On the final day of IIJS Premiere 2024, The Retail Jeweller interacted with three companies, each of which take care of 3D design, purity check, and assembly-line jewellery production.
Agkem Impex, a company that has been exhibiting at IIJS since the last 4-5 years, presented their latest gold testing machine and a laser soldering machine, which cuts down on turnaround time of soldering while assuring top-notch quality. “The gold testing machine is compact and can fit in any part of the retail showroom. This comes with a battery back-up of 3 hours in case of power outage. These days, retailers cross-check the gold for purity instead of a manual purchase, so they are asking more for this product. We have launched an economical version of the gold testing machine this time,” said Vrijesh Kumar Jaiswal, product head – equipment, Agkem Impex.
Jaimin Bhatt, sales Manager, DLP Technique, spoke about 3d printing machines and curing technologies on display at Nesco. This Vadodara-based company provides solutions for direct castable and non-castable items. Having started operations 5 years ago, the company has been exhibiting at IIJS since the past 3 years. “I’ve seen improvement in the awareness about products,” said Bhat, adding, “We offer ‘Make In India’ jewellery manufacturing 3d technology, which has HD resolution-based projectors and 2.5k resolution output. There is a healthy demand for machines, curing boxes and raisins, and we are getting more inquiries from manufacturers from Mumbai, Kolkata, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, J&K, and Delhi than retailers,” Bhatt maintained.
Himanshu Gupta, partner, Eterna Industries, spoke about their Simba machine, a new addition to their array of Gope chain and ball chain machines. This third-generation professional said that the company began with machines imported from Germany to make imitation jewellery. “When my father joined the business, we started making machines and now develop machines that are not even in the Italian catalogue,” Gupta said.
Their latest innovation is the simba chain machines, which is an alternative to handmade jewellery. The company enjoys monopoly in gope chain and ball chain machines, with only two other companies abroad making gope chain machines. “About 20% of our produce goes in domestic trade, in which Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, different parts of Delhi and Meerut factor in. We also export to Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, Middle East, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, US, Canada, and Mexico,” concluded Gupta.
