Jewellers unveiled innovative collections interpreting the IIJS Tritiya 2025 theme ‘Brahmi’, celebrating India’s oldest writing system through contemporary designs

Mumbai: The inaugural ceremony of IIJS Signature 2025 marked the unveiling of ‘Brahmi’ as the theme for IIJS Tritiya 2025, aligning with GJEPC’s ‘Brilliant Bharat’ initiative. The choice of Brahmi, one of the world’s oldest writing systems, celebrates India’s rich linguistic and scholarly heritage while encouraging jewellers to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities.

Shree Joyeria, in collaboration with Mahikrish Jewels LLP, presented a striking interpretation featuring a diamond and precious gemstone-encrusted necklace and earring set. The pendant showcased the divine mantra ‘Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ in Brahmi script. Utsav Modi, Partner at Shree Joyeria, “We selected this phrase, meaning ‘Lead me from darkness to light’, to create a meaningful connection with modern customers. Our team completed this ambitious design within 10 days.”

Bansi Jewellers took a different approach, focusing on traditional metalworking techniques. “IIJS has provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate our historical heritage. We incorporated handcrafted leaves using ancient jewellery-making methods, adorned with historically significant rubies and emeralds,” explains Sanjay Dhakan, Owner of Bansi Jewellers.

Gold Strings Jewellery Pvt Ltd offered their unique interpretation by featuring the words ‘Shri’, ‘Om’, and ‘Ram’ carved in gold, enhanced with natural Zambian emeralds, pink rubies, and South Sea pearls. “Our design incorporates Brahmi alphabets to raise awareness of this ancient language and encourage people to embrace their traditional heritage,” says Kamal Shah, MD of the brand.

The innovative collections received widespread appreciation from attendees, successfully bridging ancient Indian heritage with contemporary jewellery design while showcasing the industry’s creative capabilities.
