IIJS Signature 2025: Redefining Global Jewellery Landscape through design excellence and innovation

The 17th edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Signature, inaugurated at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, unfolded many new initiatives to enhance exports while reiterating its commitment to upskilling karigars 

Mumbai: The 17th edition of the IIJS Signature was launched with a grand inauguration ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) in Mumbai. The event marked an exciting start to the new year by offering a spectacular collection of Indian jewellery craftsmanship and announcing spearheading innovation in the industry.  

As the second-largest jewellery B2B show in the world, IIJS Signature 2025 is expected to host 25,000+ domestic visitors from 800 Indian cities this year. It accommodates 1500+ exhibitors presenting 3,000+ stalls spanning an area of 1.25 lakh sq. mt. This includes 200 first-time or new exhibitor participants including from the MSME sector. In addition, 2,500 international buyers across 60 countries and 8 international delegations from Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Iran are also attending the show.   

An enthusiastic welcome 

The event was graced by distinguished personalities, namely, the Chief Guest, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Govt of Maharashtra; the Guests of Honour Umesh Pandey, Thai Trade Representative, Thailand; and Saurabh Gadgil, Managing Director and Chairman, PNG Jewellers.

Key members of the GJEPC leadership team who were in attendance included Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC; Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman of GJEPC; Nirav Bhansali, Convenor of National Exhibitions at GJEPC; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of GJEPC.  

The occasion included flag-hoisting and ribbon-cutting ceremonies to commemorate the show’s opening. These were followed by a short video display showcasing the IIJS’s journey from its inception in 1985 to becoming one of the most influential jewellery trade fairs today.   

Commenting on this significant growth, Vipul Shah illustrated GJEPC’s vision for the future, saying, “At GJEPC, we are committed to four pillars for the growth and sustainability of the sector – speed development, innovation and technology, infrastructure, and industry standards”. As the nodal agency of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, GJEPC operates training centres and has trained over 400 artisans so far Shah stated that GJEPC operates training centres and has trained over 400 artisans so far and has invested Rs 150 crore in the generic promotion of diamonds globally. It will also be signing MoUs with De Beers to promote natural diamonds; and with DHL Express to promote Indian jewellery across the world. These initiatives and more projects facilitating research and e-commerce will help GJEPC to develop a thriving ecosystem that promotes innovation, skill and sustainable growth in the Indian jewellery industry.    

Saurabh Gadgil expanded on this notion further by mentioning, “IIJS represents the industry’s commitment to becoming the world’s largest jewellery show. This indicates that the Indian Jewellery industry is set to conquer the world, and the role of IIJS will be integral to this.”   

Notable moments 

Kirit Bhansali highlighted the outreach IIJS 2025: “IIJS Signature holds great importance for the industry. It sets the tone, reflects the market sentiment, and provides valuable insights into what we can expect in the months ahead.” He expressed his excitement that the India-Thailand economy will explore technological innovation with 150 companies in 180 booths.   

As the Chief Guest, Mangal Prabhat Lodha commended all involved in IIJS’s success and encouraged them to embrace the business opportunities available in Mumbai. He stated, “We respect the milestones IIJS has achieved. I hope that GJEPC’s member jewellers will partner with the Government to create more employment opportunities and skill enhancement programs for the millions of industry workers. Attaining the goal of being the world’s largest B2B exhibition in Asia is a national matter, and the government of Maharashtra is with you.”

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, Umesh Pandey shared a similar sentiment: “Like India, Thailand has a strong presence in the coloured gemstone industry. Therefore, we are glad to be a part of IIIJS and are looking at fruitful collaborations with our Indian partners.”   

Hence, with initiatives such as “Brilliant Bharat” and “One Earth,” IIJS has positioned itself to set more benchmarks in the industry. The show also includes events such as 40 Under 40, Innovate Talks, Jewellers for Hope, Raising Funds for Charity, and the Hall of Fame: Gems of Prestige. Participants get ample networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities while witnessing India’s finest jewels.
