Election Commission Assures Jewellery Industry of No Harassment

The Election Commission of India on Thursday assured the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), the apex body for jewellery traders, manufacturers and retailers, that there would be no harassment by the authorities to jewellers during the General Election and State Election in future.
“There will be no such harassment issues by the authorities to jewellers during the code of conduct around the General Elections,” said GJC Chairman, Anantha Padmanabhan. A delegation of GJC met the Election Commission to seek its attention to the seizure of jewellery incident which took place recently in Coimbatore.
