Diamantaires May Buy 12 mn Carats of Rough From Zimbabwe

Diamantaires have set their eyes on Zimbabwe for importing rough diamonds to Surat. The government of Zimbabwe recently commissioned diamond exploration in 8,800 square kilometre area, which could possibly have a large diamond deposit.
Diamonds mined in Zimbabwe are used by diamantaires, especially small and medium diamond units, in the city to manufacture near gem quality diamond set in wrist watches and bling jewellery. Zimbabwe Government has set a target to produce over 12 million carats of diamonds per annum, industry sources said.
