Kolkata: Jewellers and stars shone brighter together on the ramp of The Bridal Trendsetters – Kolkata Edit, held in association with The Jewellery Diaries and Nanhi Kali – K.C Mahindra Education Trust at JW Marriott, Kolkata recently.

This is the first time that the jewellery fashion show has involved retail brands. Senco Gold & Diamonds, Manik Chand & Sons Jewellers, Mahabir Danwar Jewellers and Sawansukha Jewellers had models flaunt their awe-inspiring jewellery – from polki, gold to diamond and coloured stones. Retailers and jewellery designers from the brands walked the ramp along with celebrities from the Bengali film and television industry and influencers.

Two highlights of this show made it all the more memorable. Striking a chord on fashion down to the last-mile journey of jewellery retail, the show featured select customers of the participating brands, who walked the ramp with actor-entrepreneur Payel Mukherjee, actor Sayantani Guha Thakurta, Miss Universe India 2010 Ushoshi Sengupta, actor Bulbuli Panja, fashion blogger Nandita Daga, lifestyle influencer Garima Banka, Mrs India Worldwide Adolina Ganguly, and fashion designer Lisha Patni. Proceeds from the show will be allocated to fund the education of 15 girl children based in the Darjeeling centre of Nanhi Kali.

Speaking about the event, Samit Bhatta, Publisher, Retail Jeweller India and Middle East, said, “It is a milestone in itself to bring out the essence of beauty from eastern and north-eastern states of India through the Bridal Trendsetters. Each participating brand is a master in its own league. We had a super-successful fashion show that also touched the lives of the community at the grass-root level.”

Suvankar Sen, MD & CEO of Senco Gold & Diamonds, said, “It delights us to be part of an association that combines fashion and community service in such an amazing way. I believe that this initiative of Bridal Trendsetters will set an example of fashion and community service going together.”

Siddhartha R Sawansukha, MD of Sawansukha Jewellers, said, “Adorning an Indian bride with the best of jewellery and seeing them look goddess-like is an ambition each jeweller harbours. Topping that off with the noble opportunity of educating girl children, The Bridal Trendsetters is already on its way to win hearts and I’m proud of Sawansukha Jewellers being a part of it.”

Krishan Soni, Director, Manik Chand & Sons Jewellers, Guwahati, said, “The fashion scene across the globe is permeating cultures and this platform provided a great opportunity for retailers to experience the latest trends, imbibe and learn from inspirations showcased on the ramp.”

Arvind Soni, Director, Mahabir Danwar Jewellers, said, “Consumers in the jewellery industry want to see designs with a compelling narrative that are also in vogue. The Bridal Trendsetters has, time and again, blended quintessential Indian designs with global trends. We are happy to participate this year as an exhibiting jewellery brand.”
