Aneka harps on the storytelling of jewellery creation with traditional artistry
A team of skilled craftsmen underwent specialized training to master indigenous embroidery technique of Chikankari to shape this collection
Mumbai: Jewellery as a form of artistry is not talked about often. The focus on the end-product often hides the wonderful narrative of creating the design and choosing each element for the perfection as desired. Aneka has focused on storytelling with its launch of the Sero collection.
The gentle art of mindfulness and compassion finds a shimmering tribute in the Sero collection. This exquisite assortment of jewels not only embodies the intricate beauty of Chikankari, a traditional embroidery style hailing from Lucknow, India, but also encapsulates the profound connection between individuals within a community.
Derived from the Sanskrit word “sarat,” meaning “thread,” and “I tie” in Latin, Sero serves as a poignant reminder of the invisible threads that bind humanity. Each piece within the Sero collection serves as a testament to the compassionate ethos that underpins mindful living. Just as every delicate stitch in Chikankari binds together various motifs, symbolizing the invisible threads that unite communities, these jewels delicately weave together the values of empathy and understanding.
Sitanshi Talati-Parikh, brand director, Aneka, spoke of compassion and empathy, which is expressed through the craft of embroidery in this collection. Agreeing with Talati-Parikh, Vikram Singh, design director, Aneka, spoke about the effect of breathable fabric, which the bohemian jewellery range mimics. “There is a balance between the rose-cut, brilliant-cut and the Akoya pearls. These pearls emanate a subtle shimmer, which is not overpowering, and took us nine months to arrive at. Since the sense of weaving holds a critical aspect, most of the pieces are flexible. You don’t see the beginning of the threads, which creates wonder for the onlooker,” said Singh.
Crafted with the utmost care and precision, the Sero collection showcases the harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation. Utilizing 18K recycled rose gold as a canvas, the artisans behind these exquisite pieces meticulously set rose-cut and pavé brilliant-cut diamonds around soft-toned, fine Japanese Akoya pearls. The result is a symphony of soft and warm hues that evoke a sense of serenity and elegance.
One of the collection’s most important features lie in its innovative linking technique, specially devised to create a flexible effect with rose-cut diamonds while seemingly rendering the links invisible. This intricate method required a team of skilled craftsmen who underwent specialized training to master the technique, ensuring that each piece exudes a seamless blend of artistry and innovation.
