‘What Jhumka?’ song highlights Tyaani’s association with ‘Rocky aur Rani kii Prem Kahani’
Fine jewellery brand Tyaani by Karan Johar is the official jewellery partner for RRKPK. Ace designer Maheep Kapoor has designed the jewellery that features in the film for Tyaani. An entire song is dedicated to ‘jhumkas’ in the film, and is a quintessential ode to the ear accessory
The much-awaited Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Rocky aur Rani kii Prem Kahani’ came with an added surprise as it released in theatres on Friday, July 28, courtesy its exclusive collaboration with Karan Johar’s fine jewellery brand, Tyaani. The film features jewellery from its official jewellery partner Tyaani, designed by Maheep Kapoor for the brand. The collection is a celebration of royal classics and chic contemporary looks bound with the look and feel of the characters ‘Rani’ and ‘Rocky’ played by Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh respectively.
On Instagram, ace designer Maheep Kapoor decoded her inspiration behind the making of the iconic ‘jhumkas’ featured in the “What Jhumka?” song, saying, “I think our jewellery with Karan Johar’s vision and telling us how to design it, worked in tandem with the film and we are so excited! The entire designing process has been so much fun and the cherry on the cake is we got a jhumka song dedicated to all our jhumkas.” The song picks up on the iconic number ‘Bareilly ke bazaar mein jhumka gira re’ and is a quintessential ode to the ear accessory.
Anjali Anand, who has acted in the film, put up an Instagram post talking about her experience of wearing Tyaani jewellery. “Throughout the film, every time I wore an Indian outfit, I would pair it with Tyaani jewellery. I had so many options to choose from -it was all colours, and different from the usual jewellery we have,” she said in the post.
Tyaani’s ‘Rocky aur Rani’ collection is highlighted on its website. Each piece of the collection is handcrafted and curated with precision, and comes with a certification of diamond and Polki jewellery crafted in 18kt gold. The collection has a special place for exquisite earrings, be it the chandbalis or the much-talked-about jhumkas. Various gemstones have been used in the range of jhumkas, which can be customized with regard to the length and gemstones to be used in them. Many pieces have also been named after the stars and characters in the film, eg, ‘Alia Polki long earrings’ which is a pair of sapphire blue danglers. On Instagram, Tyaani has put out pieces like the Vantasha choker, Madhurima chandbalis, Madhuri maangtika, Rashmi earrings, Rocky pendant, and the much celebrated ‘Rani haar’ as part of its social media promotional strategy.
Karan Johar launched Tyaani fine jewellery in October 2017. It is a pret collection of fine jewellery that uses 22kt gold and natural diamond polkis to create pieces that encapsulate Indian values and sentiments in its jewellery design. It aims to get women back in touch with their roots, harking on their desire for contemporary looks and styles in uncut diamond jewellery.
