The retailer plans to open more than 30 showrooms across the UK, the US, Canada and other markets as it strengthens its international presence
Malabar Gold & Diamonds has made its first jewellery export to the United Kingdom under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, placing it among the first Indian jewellers to ship jewellery to the market under the pact.
The export was formally inaugurated at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Malabar Gold & Diamonds North India Regional Head Mohammed Jishad N.K., representatives of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, and senior government officials.
The development marks a significant step in the retailer’s international expansion and comes as the agreement opens new opportunities for Indian jewellery businesses in the UK. Malabar Gold & Diamonds said the pact would support stronger economic cooperation between the two countries while improving the global reach of Indian craftsmanship.
Commenting on the milestone, M.P. Ahammed, Chairman, Malabar Group, said, “It is a matter of great pride for Malabar Gold & Diamonds to be among the first jewellers to export under this agreement. Following the philosophy of ‘Make in India, Market to the World’, we have been consistently striving to take Indian craftsmanship to global markets.”
Ahammed added that the shipment would help strengthen the company’s supply chain, deliver greater value to customers and improve its competitiveness in the UK. He also described it as the beginning of stronger trade relations between India and the United Kingdom, while reiterating the group’s commitment to quality, trust and responsible business practices.
The export comes as Malabar Gold & Diamonds prepares to expand its Western Value Chain across the UK, the US, Canada and other markets. The retailer plans to open more than 30 new showrooms across these regions, building on its existing international presence.
With more than 445 showrooms across 14 countries, Malabar Gold & Diamonds continues to strengthen its global network. The company said its early participation in the agreement reflects its focus on responsible sourcing, international quality standards and regulatory compliance as it expands the reach of Indian jewellery design and manufacturing.
