AVR Swarna Mahal Jewellers, at the request of the Tamil Nadu government, has redesigned the existing clock tower of Salem by inaugurating a new structure called ‘Fountain of Wealth’. The structure has become the talking point of the town since its recent inauguration spreads across a 15,000 sqft landscape with the ‘Go Green’ concept. It has an artificial foundation with 6 pillars, a redesigned Watch Tower Clock and a spacious park.
The new structure has been named ‘Fountain of Wealth’ to give a message to the masses to invest in gold and jewellery. They have used different colours in the fountain and each colour such as gold, silver and various other colours represents the industry. Gold colour for gold jewellery, silver for silver jewellery and various other colours for colour gemstones were used. There are writings on the outer wall of the structure, which asks people to invest in gold as it is our heritage.
Siddhanth AVR, Director, AVR Swarnamahal Jewellers said that the AVR family has been maintaining a clock town in Salem since 1928. “So, each time there is a requirement for re-beautification of the clock town, the state government used to approach us. This time, we gave it a twist. As Salem is a fast developing city, we wanted to give it a smart city look and feel. We have used the services of various designers to come up with this concept.”

As a responsible jeweller, AVR always tries to give back to society through various social initiatives and the development of the new structure is one of them. As part of their CSR activity, the jeweller will put funds from their own pockets to maintain the structure so that its beauty is restored for a long time. The jeweller also maintains various bus shelters in Salem. Such endeavours prove that certain stakeholders of the jewellery industry are going above and beyond personal profitability to spread greater faith in jewellery in society.
