Providing practical support for postmen reflected the company’s continued engagement in community-focused welfare programmes

Madgaon: Ulhas Jewellers recently associated with Rotary Club of Margao to distribute raincoats to postmen of the Margao Post Office as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for 2026. The brand aimed to provide practical support for those who compulsorily work outdoors during Goa’s heavy monsoon season.

The distribution drive was conducted under the leadership of the Rotary Club Margao president and attended by members of the club, representatives of Ulhas Jewellers and officials from the Postal department. Ulhas Jewellers Managing Directors Vikram Verlekar and Pritam Verlekar were present during the programme.

A brief function was held at the Margao Post Office to hand over the raincoats to postal staff. The organizers said the initiative was intended as a gesture of appreciation for postal workers, who remain on the field even during periods of heavy rainfall to ensure letters, documents and parcels reach customers on time.

While logistics and delivery networks have evolved significantly over the years, postal services continue to play an important role in connecting businesses and households, particularly in smaller towns and local communities. The initiative recognized the contribution of postal employees whose work requires long hours outdoors, irrespective of the climate or season.

Officials from the Margao Post Office thanked Ulhas Jewellers for the gesture. The event also brought together members of the business community and service organizations, reflecting how local partnerships can be used to address practical needs within the community.

For the jeweller, the programme forms part of a series of social initiatives undertaken in association with local organizations. By partnering with Rotary Club Margao for the raincoat distribution drive, the retailer chose to focus on a group of frontline workers whose responsibilities increase during the monsoon season.

The company said it plans to continue participating in similar community-focused initiatives in future.

Ulhas Jewellers operates a single, recently revamped flagship store in Madgaon, Goa.
