The Indian jewellery major is taking its exhibition-led retail strategy to Australia, using a curated showcase to deepen engagement with the country’s South Asian consumer base.

Melbourne, Australia: Malabar Gold & Diamonds is taking its Artistry Show to Melbourne from September 4 to 13, 2026, marking what the brand describes as its first Grand Jewellery Exhibition in Australia. Hosted at its Melbourne showroom, the 10-day event brings a wider selection of the retailer’s jewellery to an overseas audience, turning the showroom into a destination for discovery beyond everyday retail.

The move reflects a broader shift among Indian jewellery retailers operating internationally: using experiences, exhibitions and curated collections to recreate the depth and occasion-led nature of jewellery shopping in overseas markets.

The Artistry format is built around the idea of “wearable art”, with Malabar using curated showcases to bring handcrafted pieces to customers beyond the everyday showroom assortment.. The brand has previously taken the format to international markets including the UK, while its Australia debut was also staged in Sydney in August.

The exhibition comes as Malabar continues to strengthen its presence in Australia, where it operates showrooms including its Melbourne location at Westfield Fountain Gate. The retailer had earlier expanded its Australian footprint with its second showroom in the country, also at Fountain Gate, as part of its broader international expansion. The Melbourne outlet carries gold, diamond, precious, uncut and platinum jewellery.

The timing also places the exhibition within Australia’s spring retail calendar, giving the brand an opportunity to engage customers ahead of the year’s key festive and wedding-buying periods.

Rather than relying solely on permanent retail expansion, Malabar is increasingly using curated jewellery showcases to create additional consumer touchpoints across its international network. The Melbourne Artistry Show therefore represents another step in its strategy of taking the craftsmanship and occasion-led jewellery experience associated with its Indian business into overseas markets.
