The brand will invite standout participants to exclusive in-store styling experiences while featuring them across the brand’s official campaigns and digital platforms
Bengaluru: Praveen Jewels recently used its ‘Reel Collab’ campaign to turn existing customers into content creators and brand advocates, using their experiences with the retailer’s jewellery to generate authentic social proof and deepen customer engagement.
The campaign, which ran from July 1 to July 31, invited customers to create Instagram reels featuring jewellery they had already purchased and collaborate with the brand’s official Instagram page. A diamond ring was offered as the monthly grand prize for the reel receiving the highest number of likes, while weekly gold coins were given away to participants.
Built around the theme ‘Do you have what it takes to shine?’, the initiative focused on customers rather than professional influencers, allowing participants to showcase their individual style and personal connection with jewellery.
“Jewellery is personal, not performative. By opening the campaign to every customer, regardless of whether they have a following or not, we’re saying that confidence and style isn’t reserved for a select few. It also lets us discover authentic voices and genuine advocates we’d never find through traditional influencer scouting,” said Praveen Ganna, Managing Director, Praveen Jewels.
The campaign gave Praveen Jewels an opportunity to convert its existing customer base into a content and advocacy channel. Unlike conventional advertising, customer-generated reels can simultaneously showcase the product, demonstrate real-world usage and provide peer-to-peer validation, potentially lowering the brand’s dependence on paid influencer content. “Real customers wearing jewellery they’ve actually purchased build trust faster than any studio campaign. Each reel is social proof with no script and no incentive but pride, making it more persuasive than any advertisement,” Ganna said.
The strategy also positioned the exercise as a potential customer retention and acquisition tool. By encouraging existing customers to participate, the retailer could deepen relationships with its current customer base while exposing the brand to participants’ social networks and potentially reaching new customers through organic content.
“This campaign is really about turning our existing customers into brand advocates, not just chasing followers. Every reel becomes organic, trust-driven content from someone who has actually bought and worn the jewellery, which outperforms traditional advertising. The customers who shine often become repeat buyers and ambassadors themselves, so for us it’s a pipeline for both visibility and loyalty,” Ganna added.
The campaign attracted participation from college students, young professionals and customers across age groups, broadening the pool of potential brand advocates. To sustain momentum, Praveen Jewels will invite standout participants to exclusive in-store styling experiences while featuring them across the brand’s official campaigns and digital platforms, further strengthening customer relationships and rewarding authentic advocacy.
The initiative reflected a broader shift in jewellery retail marketing towards customer-led story-telling, as brands look to build credibility and engagement through consumers who have already experienced their products. For Praveen Jewels, the approach also provided a mechanism to gather customer insights and identify potential advocates who could contribute to longer-term brand building.
Founded by Uttam Ganna and Praveen Ganna in 1975, Praveen Jewels is a Bengaluru-based family-owned jewellery retailer with four stores across the city. The retailer specializes in gold and antique bridal jewellery, with its five-decade operating history providing an established customer base.
