Fully Autonomous Store

Portugal: Pharma&Go has launched Europe’s first fully autonomous pharmacy, using AI and computer vision technology to enable a seamless, staff‑free shopping experience. Customers tap a bank card to enter, pick from 80% of OTC products, and simply walk out—the system automatically tracks selections and completes payment in the background. This removes queues, self‑checkout screens and traditional scanning, offering a faster, frictionless model for high‑volume essentials. This concept highlights how AI‑powered autonomy can streamline low‑touch purchases, improve store efficiency and create smoother, more premium shopping journeys.

Walgreens Taps AI Advertising

Chicago: Walgreens is expanding its retail media strategy by using AI-powered advertising to target shoppers right after checkout. Through its partnership with Rokt, Walgreens now delivers high intent ads from nonendemic brands on its order confirmation pages, using its own first‑party customer data for precise targeting. This approach boosts engagement without disrupting the purchase flow and creates a premium new revenue stream. These AI‑driven, post‑purchase touchpoints can unlock smarter upselling, personalised offers and higher customer lifetime value, without changing the buying experience.

This initiative focuses on enhancing customer service by equipping their store teams with Vo.Co.Vo.’s Series 5 Pro headsets, call points, and keypads, enabling instant connections with customers and improving response rates. Associates can make and receive calls directly through their headsets, while call points and keypads streamline communication at service counters and checkout registers. This partnership reflects the changing retail landscape, where advanced technologies are increasingly being adopted to enable efficient, connected, and responsive customer interactions.

Agent-to-Agent (A2A) Luxury Retail

Hong-Kong: The global jewellery giant Chow Tai Fook partnered with Microsoft to unveil a hyper-intelligence retail system. Beyond simple chatbots, they are building for the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) economy. This system would allow a customer’s personal AI agent to negotiate and discover products on their behalf. Even further, they’ve introduced a Generative C2M (Consumer to Manufacturing) model, where a customer’s personal story is instantly rendered into a 3D jewellery design and sent to an agile production line. The future of selling isn’t just human-to-human; it’s about making the brand’s inventory readable and negotiable for the digital AI assistants that your customers will soon use to pre-shop.

The ‘Atelier’ Experience in Luxury Auto

Chennai: Mecedes Benz India moved beyond traditional showrooms to launch ‘Mercedes Benz Ateliers’. Unlike traditional dealerships located in industrial hubs, these Ateliers are opening in luxury malls and high-street zones. The focus is not on ‘stock on display’ but on sensory storytelling featuring custom scent profiles, curated soundtracks, and private consultation lounges where customers can touch and feel leather and wood swatches. They highlight just 1-2 hero models surrounded by vast open space, creating a gallery approach which is unlike the usual overcrowding of customers, where every piece in the inventory is on display, diluting the perceived value of the products.

Starbucks partners with Beast Games

USA: Famous coffee retailer Starbucks partnered with Beast Games: Strong Vs Smart, a high-stakes competition-show on Prime Video. This collaboration offered surprise prizes and a brand-new beverage to consumers. Starbucks launched its new drink ‘Cannon Ball’ for a limited time, unveiling it the same day as the show’s 204th episode which highlighted the Cannon Ball Challenge. Although Starbucks is already popular among young consumers, this alliance underscored the brand’s strategy of seizing every opportunity to engage its target audience. The limited-period offering boosted footfall, attracting both regular and new consumers, particularly the fans of the show.

Breaking Marketing Patterns

Leeds: PureGym partnered with global advertising agency McCann Manchester for an innovative ad by introducing Glow—a visual representation of energy and positivity, reinforcing the brand’s motto: ‘Feel Good, Inside and Out’. McCann collaborated with a costume designer and specialist lighting artist to craft a bespoke fibre-optic suit, giving the character a tangible, real-world luminosity, creating energy that enhances both physical and emotional wellbeing. This campaign ran across TV, radio, cinema, and social media, ensuring Glow’s infectious energy reaches a wide audience.

Dior’s Haute Motherhood Strategy

Paris: The Dior Spa at Cheval Blanc Paris recently launched the Haute Motherhood Retreat, a hyper-specialised wellness program for new mothers. This wasn’t just a standard spa event, but rather a holistic, multi-day experience that included ‘Rebozo’ rituals (traditional body-closing ceremonies), postnatal yoga, and specialised skincare. By showing that the experience around the milestone itself is just as valuable, and tailoring a brand’s products for this niche event, Dior tried to capture a vulnerable and significant life milestone for the consumers that was previously left-unexplored by high-luxury brands.

The ‘Art of Living’ Retail Theatre

Paris: Hermes recently unveiled a major expansion of its ‘Home and Hospitality’ collection, moving deeper into the curated lifestyle category. During the prestigious Saut Hermes show-jumping event at the Grand Palais, the brand debuted its ‘Art de Vivre’ flagship experience, which integrated a high-luxury cafe, equestrian lounges, and a Savior-Faire Laboratory (craft demonstrations) into its retail environment. This shift moved the store away from a transactional space towards a cultural destination. By blending sports, dining and artisanal demonstrations, Hermes is ensuring that customers spend hours withing their ecosystem.

A Masterpiece in Recycled Glass

Beijing: Tiffany & Co. unveiled its four-storey flagship in Beijing’s premium shopping district. Its most striking feature isn’t the jewellery inside, but the building itself! Designed by the Dutch firm MVRDV, the facade is made of translucent glass fins that mimic the iconic ‘Bone Cuff’ bracelet designed by Elsa Peretti in 1970. The building serves as a giant advert for the brand’s design heritage, making it strikingly recognisable and creates an instant brand recall. Notably, the glass used for the exterior was locally manufactured from recycled materials, signalling that luxury and sustainability are now architecturally inseparable in the global market.

Tradition Meets Pop-Culture

Hong Kong: Chow Sang Sang has partnered with entertainment company Sanrio to introduce its ‘Hello Kitty Lucky Gold Ingot with Pillowcase Gift Set’ featuring 999.9 pure gold. And to boost purchases of these gold ingots they arranged a meet-and-greet event at their AIRSIDE store, where the first batch of buyers received an exclusive opportunity to meet the Hello Kitty mascot and receive its festive blessings in person. This partnership highlights Sang’s efforts to embrace pop culture to connect with younger future buyers, while maintaining its heritage brand image.

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) Mandate

Pforzheim: The recent ‘Sustainable Jewellery Day’ conference in Germany set a new global standard for Transparency as a Baseline. The focus was on the upcoming European ‘Digital product Passport’ (DPP) requirements. This technology will soon require every luxury item sold in the EU to have a digital twin containing its full ethical and environmental history, from the name of the mine to the final polish. Sustainability is moving from optional marketing to mandatory data. Indian exporters and retailers need to prepare for a world where a diamond’s Digital Passport is as important as its grading certificate for international trade.
