Sharjah: Maharaja Gold & Diamonds recently brought together members of the United Arab Emirates’ Malayali community through ‘Onam Ride 2026’, a motorcycle convoy organized as part of the festive celebrations. The activity was conceptualized by Rafeek Maharaja, Founder and CEO, Maharaja Gold & Diamonds.

The ride began early in the morning, with participants assembling at Sharjah’s Half Desert before setting off on the journey towards Dubai. The convoy combined motorcycling with Kerala’s cultural traditions, with several riders wearing traditional white mundus and scarves, adding a distinctive festive identity to the event.

Participants also stopped along the route for photographs and social interactions, making the ride a shared community experience centred around the festival. The journey concluded with a breakfast gathering at Aaraamam Restaurant, where riders came together following the morning convoy to continue the Onam celebrations.

The event reflected Rafeek Maharaja’s close association with the wider expatriate community from Kerala in the UAE, and his leadership in community-focused activities and cultural events.

For jewellery retailers operating in markets with significant expatriate populations, such community engagement can provide opportunities to build relationships beyond the traditional retail environment. Cultural celebrations and interest-based gatherings can help brands connect with consumers through shared experiences while strengthening familiarity within specific communities.

The Onam Ride 2026 demonstrates how business leaders can use community-led events to engage with audiences around cultural occasions that hold strong relevance for their customer base. By participating in celebrations that resonate with the Kerala diaspora, Maharaja Gold & Diamonds extended its visibility beyond conventional store-based interactions.

Known for its lightweight designer jewellery collections, Maharaja Gold & Diamonds operates more than 20 stores across India, the UAE and Qatar, serving customers across multiple markets.
