A similar programme is being considered for the company’s international operations, following the India-focused event held in Thrissur

Thrissur: Joyalukkas recently recognized employees who have completed 20+ years with the organization through an internal initiative titled ‘Jewels of Joy’. The programme covered the brand’s India operations, honouring 222 long-standing employees, inviting each of them along with their families for a two-part event held at Hyatt Regency Thrissur and the family-owned island ‘Isle of Joy’.

The day began with a formal felicitation ceremony, where awards were presented by Joy Alukkas, Chairman and Managing Director, Joyalukkas and Jolly Joy Alukkas, Director of the group. This was followed by an evening gathering on the private island. Felicitated employees received a six-month bonus in addition to their annual payout, along with an international trip for two.

While milestone recognition was the immediate context, the company also outlined the systems it has put in place to retain and develop talent over time. These include training initiatives, leadership development programmes and cross-functional exposure across roles. Internal movement and role-based skill development too are part of a structured approach to career progression within the organization.

“Our focus has been to ensure that employees see a clear path for growth within the organization,” said Joy Alukkas, Chairman and Managing Director, Joyalukkas. “Training, internal opportunities and recognition at key milestones are part of that effort.”

The company also highlighted its performance management processes and mentoring support from senior leadership, particularly for employees moving into higher responsibilities. Training programmes extend across functions, including retail, corporate and manufacturing, with additional emphasis on customer interaction and service standards for frontline teams.

The company’s support framework covers health, financial security and work-life balance. Compensation structures include incentives and statutory benefits, while long-term service is acknowledged through initiatives such as the 20-year recognition programme. “Employee well-being is about consistency across different aspects of work and personal life,” noted Alukkas. “It includes financial stability, access to healthcare and a work environment where people feel supported.”

The inclusion of the employees’ families at the event reflects an attempt to extend recognition beyond the workplace. The company also runs periodic engagement activities and internal communication initiatives aimed at maintaining interaction between employees and the management.

Joyalukkas has indicated that a similar recognition programme is being considered for its international operations, following the India-focused event in Thrissur.

Joyalukkas currently operates 160+ showrooms across 11 countries.
