Jewellery brands celebrate Children's Day with kids from varied economic strata through a range of activities

Every year on November 14th, India celebrates Children’s Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The day is observed to honor his contributions to the growth of the nation as well as his passion for children and students. To honour this day, numerous jewellers in India organised a whole day of activities for children from all socio-economic backgrounds.

Lucknow-based BK Saraf Jewellers spent the entire day visiting two primary schools in the city. The first school they went to was Adarsh Vidhya Mandir, and the second was Indira Nagar. Sugandh Chhetri, General Manager – Sales and Marketing, BK Saraf Jewellers, said, “We distributed biscuits and packet of snacks.” He further added, “As a brand, we believe small or big, any contribution makes a difference which leads everyone towards success. So, we are also committed to our duties and responsibilities towards for betterment of society.”

BK Saraf carried out this exercise as part of its “BHENT” social initiative, which directly benefits recipients. Under this initiative, they urge their clients to purchase anything from BK Saraf, a portion of which will be contributed to underprivileged children for their basic requirements.

JD Solitaire Jewellers from New Delhi also took part in this celebration by organizing a sports day for disabled children along with the support of BG foundation and distributed saplings to all the children. Mr. Sanjay Kalsi, Director, JD Solitaire, said, “When you learn, teach and when you get, give.”

Last but not the least, Ratnalaya Jewellers from Patna provided stationery materials along with books for 75 students and Ratnalaya Charitable Trust decided to organize a small event to spread happiness amongst underprivileged children on the occasion of Children’s Day. Wishes and blessings distinctively commemorated the day by organizing competitions such as singing, dancing, musical chair game, etc.

Mr. Saket Keshri, Owner, Ratnalaya Jewellers, said, “The event took around 2-3 hours but went very well. Watching all the kids and their smiles seemed priceless. By organizing such kids-friendly events, we aim to let these disadvantaged children have a moment to enjoy their childhood. And we are grateful to be able to organize such a cheerful event and we thank each one who was there and helped us to manage the event.”
