The day-long Maha Prasad distribution saw a steady flow of visitors, with the jeweller’s team managing on-ground operations to maintain consistent service
Lucknow: BK Saraf Jewellers recently marked ‘Bada Mangal’ (or Bada Mangalwar) – a highly auspicious festival dedicated to Lord Hanuman, observed on Tuesdays during the Hindu month of Jyeshtha (May-June) – by organizing a Maha Prasad distribution in Lucknow. Rooted in the city’s culture, ‘Bada Mangal’ is famous for communal ‘bhandaras’ (food distribution) and acts of charity, that date back around 400 years to the time of the Nawabs of Awadh, symbolizing Lucknow’s syncretic heritage.
By aligning with a long-standing local tradition, B K Saraf Jewellers went beyond retail into a shared social space, strengthening its engagement with the community. The day-long Maha Prasad distribution saw a steady flow of visitors. The team managed on-ground operations to maintain consistent service. Existing customers and members of the larger local community came together for the event, interacting with the brand in a non-commercial setting.
Suyash Bansal, Co-Founder, BK Saraf Jewellers, said, “The idea behind the ‘Bada Mangal Maha Prasad’ was rooted in devotion and community service. For us, it was a way to connect with people beyond jewellery and be part of a tradition that holds cultural value in Lucknow.”
Ahead of the Maha Prasad distribution, invitations were shared through WhatsApp and social media stories, encouraging customers to participate in it. This direct communication enabled the brand to reach its audience without conventional advertising. Digital updates during the event further extended visibility, allowing even those not present at the venue to engage with the activity.
BK Saraf Jewellers used the initiative to build familiarity, reinforce trust and continuity with its customer base. Such initiatives create a layer of engagement that complements retail operations by strengthening relationships independent of purchase intent. They also contribute to strong brand recall, as the interactions are associated with shared experiences rather than transactions. This approach allows retailers to build long-term connections while maintaining relevance within the local ecosystem.
Through the ‘Bada Mangal Maha Prasad’, BK Saraf Jewellers integrated cultural participation into its outreach strategy, using it as a means to sustain visibility and boost customer acquisition and relationships in Lucknow.
Established over three decades ago, BK Saraf Jewellers operates from its flagship store in Mahanagar, Lucknow. Beyond its retail business, the jewellery house continues to engage with local communities through cultural and social initiatives.
