From CNC mangalsutras and a 1,400-hour handcrafted pen to a new gemology school and fresh accreditation recognitions, this year’s show brings design, craft, education and standards together on one floor

Mumbai: The 42nd edition of IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 was inaugurated at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), NESCO, Goregaon, by Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, in the presence of GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali and other industry dignitaries. The show has grown into the world’s second largest gem and jewellery B2B exhibition, spread across 135,000 square metres and two venues, anticipating more than 2,100 exhibitors and over 50,000 visitors, including 2,700 plus international buyers from over 80 countries.

Among the design led launches, Shringar House of Mangalsutra Limited used the platform to introduce SHRINGAR NXT, The Legacy Expands, marking its formal entry into lightweight gold jewellery through four new lines. Aura brings lightweight CZ jewellery for everyday wear, Shimmer draws on contemporary Turkish styling, Imperia is a Fine CNC Gold collection built on precision and detailing, and Prism reworks the mangalsutra into a lighter, more contemporary form, all out of the company’s newly expanded manufacturing facility. Chairman and Managing Director Chetan Thadeshwar called it “the next chapter of our legacy,” while Chief Executive Officer Viraj Thadeshwar said the launch reflects the company’s “commitment to shaping the future of lightweight gold jewellery manufacturing in India.”

Laxmi Diamonds took a similar design cue with its new Riti-Riwaaz Collection, launched under Dr. Chetankumar Mehta, CMD, Laxmi Diamonds, Bengaluru, and unveiled before a wide cross section of retail leadership including Rajesh Kalyanaraman of Kalyan Jewellers, Rajesh Rokde, Chairman of GJC, Nishad AK of Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Dr. Saurabh Gadgil of PNG Jewellers, M.S. Suhas of Bhima Jewellery, and senior representatives from Thangamayil Jewellery, DP Jewellers, Navrathan Jewellers, Vinsmera Jewels, Challani Jewellery Mart, Joyalukkas Group, Manoj Vaibhav Jewellers and Abhushan Jewellers.

Sky Gold & Diamonds brought a wider spread to the same theme, unveiling a Diamond Bridal Jewellery Collection with contemporary silhouettes alongside Prism, a CNC precision bangle line from its in-house label Speed Bangles, and a Luxury Gold Accessories Collection featuring a gold phone cover, mobile purse, jacket and belt. Its standout piece, though, sat outside the lightweight conversation altogether: a limited-edition commemorative pen that took over 1,400 hours of design, engineering and craftsmanship to complete.

Royal Chain Limited approached value differently, reworking the classic tennis bracelet entirely in gold. Shagun Jain, Head Designer at Royal Chain Limited, said the collection uses precision manufacturing to give the illusion of diamonds while being 100 percent gold, offering “more value for money.” Starting at around 7 grams, the pieces are lightweight and flexible enough for daily wear while working across parties, weddings and dinners, blending modern and traditional design.

Shineshilpi Jewellers extended the value conversation into new metals and karats, announcing a platinum collection anchored by brand ambassadors Rohit Sharma and Anirudh Ravichander, signed on a one-year contract after the company previously worked with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Director Pramod Mehta said Shineshilpi has also entered 9 carat handmade jewellery, a category previously limited to casting jewellery and machine-made chains, positioning it for gifting and budget conscious buyers alongside its existing 22 and 18 carat lines. Mehta added that trade sentiment has picked up after a slow two to three months, with strong early buying for the festive and wedding season, and described the company’s combined push across gold, platinum and silver, and across 22, 18 and 9 carat, as its Multimetal Multicarat Powerhouse campaign.

K.I.K Jewells marked nearly two decades of design work with a coffee table book bringing together 10 collections created since 2010, spanning bridal, antique gold, yellow gold and diamond jewellery across almost 16 years. The book was unveiled by Ramesh Vora, Founder and Managing Director of Bafleh Jewellery, who after viewing the collections expressed interest in retailing select K.I.K Jewells designs through Bafleh’s network in Dubai. The launch coincided with two new collections: Sahara, an antique gold range for grooms including Bahubali bracelets, brooches and matarwala-inspired pieces, and Sainai, a 22-karat bridal collection with hand-executed rava work and coloured stone accents inspired by music and birds.

The show’s institutional moments carried a different kind of weight. GIA India unveiled the new GIA School of Gemology and Jewelry Arts at a dedicated event at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, with the Mumbai campus, open since 2004, running programmes in gemology, diamond grading, coloured stones, jewellery design, CAD/CAM for jewellery and jewellery business education. Cathryn Ramirez, GIA Senior Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, said the school reiterates GIA’s long term commitment to India as a strategic market, while Amit Pratihari, Managing Director of GIA India, said the campus would continue to equip students with the education needed to lead the industry’s future. Also present were Pritesh Patel, GIA President and CEO, and Sriram Natarajan, GIA Senior Vice President of Laboratory Operations, with Arjun Pansari, Director of Education at GIA India, offering the vote of thanks.

Standards took centre stage at the Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES) booth, where accreditation certificates were presented to jewellery businesses that had completed its assessment process, among them Rajesh Rokde of Rokde Jewellers, Mansukhbhai Kothari of Vasupati Jewellers, Narayan Debnath and Nanda Dulal Debnath of Radha Krishna Jewellery, and Mohit Adesara of Leela Manufacturers. CEO Kaushlendra Sinha said the response from industry stakeholders had been strong, calling accreditation a mark of an organisation’s commitment to ethical practice, quality and consumer confidence.
