Chennai: GRT Jewellers has contributed Rs 1 crore to the Tamilnad Kidney Research (TANKER) Foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. The amount was handed over at an event in Chennai by GRT Jewellers Managing Directors, G.R. Ananthapadmanabhan, G.R. Radhakrishnan and Jayashree Rajesh, along with G. Rajendran, Chairman of GRT Hotels, on August 9, 2025.
The donation is part of GRT Jewellers’ overall CSR allocation of Rs 3.67 crore to 11 non-governmental organizations this year. TANKER Foundation, established in 1993, provides treatment support for underprivileged kidney patients through its centres in Tamil Nadu. Funds given to TANKER will be used for subsidized dialysis sessions, transplantation assistance and essential medicines for patients unable to meet the costs.
In addition to the donation to TANKER, GRT Jewellers has disbursed Rs 1.37 crore in scholarships to 264 students from low-income families and contributed Rs 50 lakh towards disaster relief in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The company’s CSR initiatives focus on education, healthcare and community development. Past contributions include Rs 1 crore towards cancer research and funds for COVID-19 relief.
According to the company, its CSR approach is aimed at addressing community needs through targeted financial assistance and partnerships with non-profit organizations.
Recently, the company had made similar healthcare-related CSR allocations, with emphasis on extending access to treatment for critical illnesses. The contribution to TANKER is in line with this focus, forming part of the brand’s wider efforts in healthcare and education.
