Jabalpur: Kothari Jewellers hosted a teacher felicitation programme on the occasion of Guru Purnima, celebrating the enduring role of educators in shaping communities. Held locally with a focused and purposeful approach, the initiative recognized three respected teachers from the city for their long-standing contributions to education and social development.
While Guru Purnima holds deep spiritual significance in Indian tradition, the brand chose to observe the day by acknowledging the real-world impact of teachers, not only in academic institutions but also at the grass roots level. The event was not positioned as a promotional campaign but as a community-centric gesture, designed to show gratitude and respect for individuals who have selflessly imparted education to others.
Among the teachers honoured at the felicitation ceremony were Dr Nandita Sarkar, former principal of Home Science College, who served the government institution for over four decades. Also recognized was Chitrangi Iyer, an educator with extensive national and international teaching experience, known for her progressive methods and community influence. The third teacher honoured was Parag Diwan, who runs a daily tutorial programme on the Narmada ghats, teaching 250-400 economically disadvantaged children and helping many of them transition into English-medium education, despite their financial challenges.
In keeping with the spirit of Guru Purnima, the programme was kept low-profile. No public invitations or marketing measures were undertaken as the emphasis remained on genuine recognition, knowledge-sharing and strengthening community ties.
Commenting on the event, Ashish Kothari, Director, Kothari Jewellers, said, “Our aim was to respect the gurus who have quietly shaped lives through decades of service. We wanted the focus to remain on them and their selfless work, not on publicity.”
Encouraged by the positive response, the brand plans to scale the programme in the coming year. The next edition aims to honour 8–10 educators, to create a shared space of recognition and reflection. This initiative is a reflection of Kothari Jewellers’ CSR approach, that values grass roots impact, education access, and long-term community investment over visibility-driven efforts.
